Cash PnL

Current Value - Total Cost = Cash PnL

Example:
Current: $23.08
Cost: $20.00
PnL: +$3.08

Percent PnL

(Current Value - Cost) / Cost × 100 = Percent PnL

Example:
($23.08 - $20.00) / $20.00 × 100 = +15.4%

Taking Profits

Consider closing when:

Position reached your profit target
Market sentiment has shifted
You want to lock in gains
New information changes the outlook

You need the capital

Status: Active ✅
Can: Close, Monitor, Add
Market: Open for trading

Closed Position

Status: Closed
Result: Sold at market price
Shows in: Transaction history
No longer in: Active positions

Resolved Position

Status: Resolved
Result: Market settled (won/lost)
Payout: Automatic to wallet
Shows in: Transaction history

Advanced Position Management

Partial Closes

Want to take some profit but keep exposure?

Current position: 100 shares
Close 50 shares → Take partial profit
Keep 50 shares → Maintain exposure

Contact support to enable partial close features.

Averaging Down

If price moves against you, you can buy more to average down:

Position 1: 50 YES @ $0.70 = $35
Price drops to $0.50
Position 2: 50 YES @ $0.50 = $25
Combined: 100 YES @ $0.60 avg
Total cost: $60

Now you only need price to reach

0.60 to break even (instead of

0.70).

Averaging Down Risk: Only do this if your thesis hasn’t changed. Don’t average down on fundamentally bad positions!

Hedging Positions

You can hedge by taking both sides:

Original: 100 YES @ $0.60 = $60
Hedge: 50 NO @ $0.40 = $20
Total risk: $80
Guaranteed outcome: Some protection either way

Reading Total PnL

The header shows your overall performance:

Interpretation:

Dollar Amount: Total profit/loss across all positions
Percentage: Average return across positions
Emoji: Overall status (profit/loss/neutral)

Total PnL includes both realized (closed) and unrealized (active) profits/losses.

Position History

Viewing Past Positions

Check positions that have closed or resolved:

Visit your wallet on PolygonScan
Search your wallet address (get from /wallet)
View all transactions including:
- Position opens
- Position closes
- Market resolutions
- Profit/loss history

Tracking Performance

To track your trading performance:

Note entry and exit prices
Calculate win rate (% of profitable trades)
Track average profit per trade
Review patterns in successful trades

Position Limits

Portfolio Guidelines

Healthy position management:

Single Position: Max 10-20% of portfolio
Correlated Positions: Max 25-30% of portfolio
Total Active: Keep some dry powder (cash)

Risk Concentration

Avoid over-concentration:

❌ Too much in one market
❌ Too many correlated positions
❌ All capital deployed
✅ Diversified across markets
✅ Mix of position sizes
✅ Cash reserve for opportunities

Troubleshooting Positions

Position Not Showing

If a position is missing:

Wait 30 seconds and refresh
Check if market has already resolved
Verify trade was executed (check transaction hash)
Look in transaction history
Contact support if still missing

Incorrect PnL

If PnL seems wrong:

Click “Refresh” to update prices
Check if you have multiple positions in same market
Verify current market price on Polymarket
Remember: PnL is unrealized until closed
Contact support with position details

Can't Close Position

If unable to close:

Check if market is still active
Ensure sufficient liquidity
Try refreshing positions first
Wait a minute and try again
Contact support if issue persists

Position Value Seems Low

If value is lower than expected:

Market price may have moved down
Check “Current Price” field
Compare to your “Average Price”
This is normal market volatility
Consider if you should hold or close

Position Best Practices

Monitor Daily

Check positions at least once daily to stay informed of changes

Set Targets

Know your profit target and stop-loss before entering

Review Regularly

Weekly review of all positions and performance

Don't Panic

Short-term volatility is normal - stick to your plan

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do positions update?

Positions update in real-time as market prices change. Click “Refresh” for the latest data, or run /positions again.

Can I close a position anytime?

Yes, as long as the market is still active. You can close positions 24/7 until the market resolves.

What happens to my position when market resolves?

If you win, each share becomes worth $1.00 and USDC is automatically credited to your wallet. If you lose, shares become worthless.

Do I need to close positions manually?

No. Positions automatically resolve when the market settles. But you can close early to take profits or cut losses.

Is there a fee to close positions?

No! Closing positions is gasless, just like opening them. You only get/lose money based on the price difference.
