Overview

After placing trades, you need to track their performance. The /positions command shows all your active positions with real-time profit/loss (PnL), current values, and market prices.
Real-Time Tracking: Your positions update automatically as market prices change.

Viewing Your Positions

Check All Positions

Use the positions command:
You’ll see a detailed view like this:
Positions are sorted by most recent first. Use pagination buttons to navigate if you have many positions.

Understanding Position Details

Each position shows:

PnL Indicators

  • βœ… Green Check: Position is profitable
  • ❌ Red X: Position is at a loss
  • βšͺ White Circle: Breaking even

Closing Positions

You can close positions anytime to realize profits or cut losses.

The bot shows details of what you’re closing:

Click β€œConfirm Close” to sell your shares at current market price

When to Close Positions

Consider closing when:
  • Position reached your profit target
  • Market sentiment has shifted
  • You want to lock in gains
  • New information changes the outlook
Consider closing when:
  • Position moving significantly against you
  • Fundamental thesis has changed
  • You want to free capital for better opportunities
  • Loss exceeds your risk tolerance
Close to rebalance when:
  • Position has grown too large
  • Need funds for new opportunities
  • Diversification concerns
  • Portfolio allocation changed
Close before resolution when:
  • You’re ahead and want guaranteed profit
  • Risk of adverse outcome increased
  • Market liquidity is good
  • You need the capital

Averaging Down

If price moves against you, you can buy more to average down:
Now you only need price to reach 0.60tobreakeven(insteadof0.60 to break even (instead of 0.70).
Averaging Down Risk: Only do this if your thesis hasn’t changed. Don’t average down on fundamentally bad positions!

Setting Up Alerts

Configure notifications for:
  • Position reaches profit target
  • Position hits stop-loss level
  • Market price changes significantly
  • News affecting your markets

Reading Total PnL

The header shows your overall performance:
Interpretation:
  • Dollar Amount: Total profit/loss across all positions
  • Percentage: Average return across positions
  • Emoji: Overall status (profit/loss/neutral)
Total PnL includes both realized (closed) and unrealized (active) profits/losses.

Position History

Viewing Past Positions

Check positions that have closed or resolved:
  1. Visit your wallet on PolygonScan
  2. Search your wallet address (get from /wallet)
  3. View all transactions including:
    • Position opens
    • Position closes
    • Market resolutions
    • Profit/loss history

Tracking Performance

To track your trading performance:
  • Note entry and exit prices
  • Calculate win rate (% of profitable trades)
  • Track average profit per trade
  • Review patterns in successful trades

Troubleshooting Positions

If a position is missing:
  1. Wait 30 seconds and refresh
  2. Check if market has already resolved
  3. Verify trade was executed (check transaction hash)
  4. Look in transaction history
  5. Contact support if still missing
If PnL seems wrong:
  1. Click β€œRefresh” to update prices
  2. Check if you have multiple positions in same market
  3. Verify current market price on Polymarket
  4. Remember: PnL is unrealized until closed
  5. Contact support with position details
If unable to close:
  1. Check if market is still active
  2. Ensure sufficient liquidity
  3. Try refreshing positions first
  4. Wait a minute and try again
  5. Contact support if issue persists
If value is lower than expected:
  • Market price may have moved down
  • Check β€œCurrent Price” field
  • Compare to your β€œAverage Price”
  • This is normal market volatility
  • Consider if you should hold or close
