Understanding Your Balance

USDC Balance

This is your trading balance - the amount available for placing trades on Polymarket.
💰 USDC: $125.50
  • What it is: USD Coin stablecoin (1 USDC = $1 USD)
  • Used for: All trading on Polymarket
  • Gasless: No gas fees deducted from this balance for trades
  • Instant: Updates in real-time after trades and deposits
USDC is a stablecoin pegged 1:1 with the US Dollar, so 100USDC100 USDC ≈ 100 USD

POL Balance

Network gas tokens - Usually not needed for trading.
⛽ POL: 0.05 ($0.10)
  • What it is: Polygon network’s native token (formerly MATIC)
  • Used for: Gas fees on Polygon network
  • Trading: NOT needed - all trades are gasless!
  • Display: Shown for informational purposes
You don’t need POL tokens for trading! Polymarket covers all gas fees. POL is only shown for completeness.

Balance and Trading Calculations

Available for Trading

Your USDC balance is what’s available for new trades:
Current Balance: $100.00 USDC
Active Positions: Using $60.00
Available for new trades: $100.00
Unlike traditional trading platforms, your USDC isn’t “locked” when you buy shares. You can use it again once positions are closed.

After Placing a Trade

When you buy shares:
Before Trade:
  Balance: $100.00

Buy $20 YES shares:
  Balance: $80.00
  Position: $20 YES shares

Your $20 is now in shares, not liquid USDC.

After Closing a Position

When you sell or position resolves:
Position: $20 YES shares
Market price increased to $0.75

Sell at $0.75:
  Receive: ~$30 USDC (50% profit)
  New Balance: $110.00

Common Balance Questions

Your balance changes when you:
  • Place trades (decreases by trade amount)
  • Close positions (increases if profitable, decreases if at loss)
  • Markets resolve (winning bets paid out)
Check /positions to see where your funds are currently allocated.
Minimum recommended balances:
  • To trade: $1 USDC (minimum trade size)
  • Recommended start: $10-50 USDC
  • Active trading: $50+ USDC
No maximum limit!
POL tokens might appear if:
  • Someone sent POL to your wallet
  • You received POL from an airdrop
  • Leftover from a transaction
You don’t need POL for trading - it’s just displayed for completeness.
Yes! You can send USDC from your wallet to:
  • Exchanges (Coinbase, Binance, etc.)
  • Other wallets
  • Hardware wallets
Use your wallet address and standard Polygon transfers. Contact support if you need help with withdrawals.
Balance updates are near-instant:
  • After trades: ~5-10 seconds
  • After deposits: ~30-60 seconds on Polygon
  • After position close: ~5-10 seconds
Use “Refresh Balance” button if needed.

Troubleshooting Balance Issues

If you deposited but balance is still $0:
  1. Check transaction status:
    • Visit PolygonScan
    • Search your wallet address
    • Verify transaction confirmed
  2. Verify correct network:
    • Ensure you sent on Polygon network
    • Check you sent USDC (not another token)
  3. Wait for confirmation:
    • Polygon: ~30 seconds
    • Ethereum bridge: 5-15 minutes
    • CEX withdrawal: 5-30 minutes
  4. Refresh balance:
    /balance

    Click “Refresh Balance” button
  5. Still missing? Contact support with transaction hash.
Unexpected balance changes usually mean:
  1. Active trades: Check /positions - funds may be in open positions
  2. Automatic copy trade: If copy trading is enabled, automatic trades use your balance
  3. Market resolution: A losing position was resolved
Review your transaction history on PolygonScan to see exactly what happened.
If balance seems stuck:
  1. Wait 30 seconds (blockchain confirmation)
  2. Use the “Refresh Balance” button
  3. Try /balance command again
  4. Check PolygonScan for transaction status
  5. If trade failed, balance should remain unchanged
Persistent issues? Contact support.
You should never have a negative balance. If you see this:
  1. Take a screenshot
  2. Try /balance again to confirm
  3. Contact support immediately
  4. Don’t place new trades until resolved
This is likely a display error that will be corrected.
